Happy Birthday Carebear

Now this was a challenge for me as I was never a fan of sewing. I had to sew ears, eyes, limbs and so on. This was a special request from my BFF for her birthday and I could not say no. I could not find a free pattern for Carebear. I used the Bear in a Jif pattern from Lion Brand Yarn. I did some alteration at the ears and eyes and size of the bear.

I found the love pattern for the nose, foot pad, and butt from the net. It was simple pattern and was easy to make.

The legs were where I got stuck as the legs had like 3 toes. This was when I found a blog on carebear crocheting and I got help from Sharon. From her, I got to finish the legs and I was pretty happy with the outcome.

My friend was very thrilled to receive the gift.

Owl

This pattern was from a supposed to be owl purse. I just changed a bit by stuffing it with toy stuffing and cloves. This was done a whole load of different types of yarn. The own looked a bit lively with the contrast colors. My friends came out with a few different possibilities of what it was rather than an owl. It ranged from penguin to pokemon cartoon character.  This was made for an ex-colleague, friend, well-wisher from Singapore.

Lotus

This lotus was made for my brother’s friend upon his request. I made it according to Tealight Lotus by Daniel Herbertz pattern. This lotus was made with both yellow and red color using Minlon yarn. I created a different lotus like leaf for the red lotus. It was a simple gradual increment of DC and to create the slit on the leaf, the pattern was repeated as a row at the slit instead of circle.

Star

This is amigurumi star and I took this pattern from the net too. It was under amigurumi star by Cinciut and in pdf format. I rescaled the size as I wanted a bigger star. Again this star was made to finish my stash yarns and was made for a friend too. I like the combination of the color. I am a green craze person, so that explains why I liked this color combination.

Octopi

This was a common pattern found in the net. This amigurumi was made to finish my stash yarns. I made this for a cousin. I find it relieving to crochet or knit something up to give it to someone.  I have no idea what to do with so many crocheted things in my house. I like that I could give it to someone rather than keeping it for myself.
I made this octopus with Minlon yarn and stuffed it toy stuffing. I added the button on top corner to give it a girly effect.

Sunflower

This was a simple amigurumi. I did this twice as a gift for friends. I like sunflower very much because of the brilliant color and I think they look very lively. This amigurumi was made to portrait the same thing. The middle brown was stuffed with toy stuffing to give a 3D effect. In addition, I added in cloves together with the stuffing to give a nice spice smell. I am not sure how long did the smell lasted in an open room.

Leaf Scarf

Leaf Scarf
This scarf was done with Misc Sale yarn I bought almost 2 years ago. I just got the idea what to do with it after those years. The color is sweet combo and I personally liked it a lot. This scarf was done for a friend from Germany, Tina for Christmas.
The pattern I got from Vogue Knitting Accessorize, a book I bought some time ago. It’s a good with simple knitting instruction. After the scarf was knitted I blocked it to make the leaf pattern more obvious. The scarf definitely looked better after blocking and it got longer. So, I am suggesting to probably making your scarf a bit shorter than your intended to, so that you would get the wanted length after blocking it.
